well so far the Diryboard theme works best for me.
Easiest to see what forum subjects got new posts. Was kinda hard on some of the other themes. And I'm not going for a wow theme either lol.

Easy access to PM, mark forums read is easy to find. All control panels and such are at the top.
And the colors are not that bad. Even a button on the top left corner to adjusts front size.

Tho like Py I only get it on like 50% of the screen. no themes works well with my currents desktop resolution or my widescreen. But don't bother me to much. I'm getting used to the new layout very well atm. Working out fine.

All of the themes are completely unmodified from the vanilla installs atm. I'd like to change some graphical elements of them all (especially getting rid of the WoW banner on those themes!).

Those actually look quite nice. Might have opted for one of those if it had a nice WA logo instead of those ghastly WoW ones:D
As for now, the subsilver seems to give me the look that seems very much like what I was using before.
The default one is pretty and easier on the eyes as has been mentioned but uses only the center 3rd of my screen..

Lots of smileys :)

Oh dear... resisting temptation to use them all in a single post...

Looking clean though, shall investigate further later tonight...

Everything feels really nice and intuitive now I've switched to the subsilver2 theme - which seems to have the most important buttons at the top (view unread posts, view new posts etc) and lays posts out in a way that makes sense (one of the themes puts the avatar pic on the right of a posts text. That's got to be wrong! We read everything, text, pictures, human faces from left to right! You need to know who's speaking fist - avatar left, text body right. Yeah, yeah, I know I'm a pop psychologist who doesn't know what he's on about - but hey!)

I'm not sure how much of it is to do with having something you're familiar with - subsilver2 is closest to what I'm used to...psychology and social networks...it an interesting topic, init?

Great work Novus!

Silly question... who, what and why is always Yahoo [Bot] online? lol.
Unless you got a free Yahoo bot with the new forum. I take it he, she or it even is a bot cus of the nice tag.

and yeah I was wondering if anyone else had problems getting the images and links to work in the signature?
I've done what I always do and I can't seem to get it to work properly.
Tho I've seen other peoples signature go on and off atm. This time when I logged in I can't see anyones signatures. Tho I know Ki's did work the last time I logged in.

The bots are the various search engines indexing the site - all perfectly normal stuff. They always showed as "Guest" accounts on the old software but phpBB handles them differently so you can actually see which ones are floating around at any given time.

I maybe haven't set the signature options correctly yet. Still some tweaking left to do I suspect; will check it out now.

Well first thing I suppose is deciding on a new skin. ^^

MY suggestions would be something pleasant, colourful and easily moddable ^^

Pleasant is good, having all the functions we're used to is also something I'd highly value.
Btw I have had this trouble since yesterday where suddenly every post on the site has been counted as unread, and even as I go check them to see if there is anything new, they still appear in my unread list after..

Just because we have moved I guess a lot of things still havent settled in.

What I would suggest is using the 'Mark Forums as Read' from the main forum index.
This will clear your 'View Unread Posts' cache and everything from now will be new.

Also dont confuse 'Unread Posts' with 'New Posts'

New Posts are any posts with a date-time after you last logged in.
Unread Posts are any you havent read yet ^^

Actually my new posts contained only 2 posts so was my rescue buttun in this case :)
Hadn't noticed the 'mark forums read' button as it sat on the other side of the screen hehe, that cleared up everything for now.

What sort of suggestions do you want? Design? Nice-to-haves? I'm not sure what is possible here, without extra costs and all that hassle that isn't needed on top of running a forum.

An event list somewhere would be handy. So that people can see at a glance what's happening and what they've already signed up for. But I don't know if that's easily possible.

Also a small choice of skins - I actually use this current one anyway because it works best on the screen on my phone. But I know aesthetically it's not the loveliest and might be low on many people's choice list, but it's just the most practical for me on the phone screen in terms of layout and colours.

Ive already added a seperate events forum to the Watchers guild and Jim is quite keen to put an events mod on the forum (something like Frostes raid planner) but hes going to sort that out when everything else is settled.

I also like this skin because its clean and easy to use but i would rather have a skin that the majority want, Jim and I are currently looking at other skins to add. Once we have decided on a few we will open them up for all to try and then vote on. We will then keep the top three so people can have what they want in their profile with the top one being the new default skin. Hope that makes sence :P
