Also just started this again, want to play Awakening, but don't like my tank anymore.

Did Leliana's song and the darkspawn chronicles for items, and now playing a City Elf Rogue, dual-wield spec :)

Had my first shot at a dragon a couple of nights ago (the one you have to use the necklace thing to summon on top of a mountain) and had my arse handed to me. It was orange to me so no surprise but i think i managed to take about 2% of its health
Im quite liking the game although the story is very linear so far, handy to pick up for a couple of hours at a time.

The only thing that realy bugs me is that my other group members never seem to follow the set of rules i give them??? I have to constantly stop the fight and throw heals out even tho the silly tower woman should do it herself :brood:

It's weird as well for me, Koje. Was telling Talon I had the same problem that the AI seems buggy.

When I played Final Fantasy XII, their gambit system used AI to programme responses. And you had to do it in order of priority, so that at any given second, it would run through all commands and apply them in order. So a 'Health <=50% cast 'heal" gambit would have a chance of firing every second or so, as long as it was at the top. If it was below say, "Mana <=50% - use pot" if both statements became true simultaneously, then it would drink a pot first, get global cooldown and then only cast heal.

In Dragon Age though, it seems Wynne will obey a command, but only once. She'll throw my first heal, but then that's it. If two characters fall below a health threshold, she'll cast heal once, on the first character, and then ignore the second.

I think I'm going to spend some time browsing the forums and see what they say about the AI. Maybe I'm missing something.

When I was playing my tank playthrough, he didn't do anything, he just absorbed damage. So I had plenty time to micro-manage everyone. Now that I'm playing a rogue, I just want to backstab and worry about positioning, so I want them to do silly things like heal without me.

Well after 42 hours im done lol.

All in i must say a very good game, it took a while for me to get into it but its worth sticking with if you have put a few hours in already.

I like the story board at the end of the game which reflects all the decisions you make throughout the game. I didnt realise you would use all of your companions at the end and as i stuck for the most part with only 5 the rest only had crap gear so if you do play it its worth keeping them all geared up near the end! I was also a bit miffed when Morrigan left the party becuase i wouldnt give her that child she wanted! I was one bar off max with her and she was the second most powerful in my group and one of the best geared apart from my main!
Its a very linear game and not very well balanced at times and i found myself changing difficulty at stages. I was also miffed at never being able to open any chests unless i had a skilled member in the group and dont even get me started on the AI of your own group.

Its nice to see a game that doesnt mince around when you have to make choices and really affects things when you do.
Im not going to bother with origins as i want to play starcraft next but Dragon Age 2 is on the radar for sure! :D

I found this really useful when figuring out how tactics work - http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Tactics
