A few people are trying STO and going away because it's 'not multiplayer enough'. There's plenty wrong with the game, but that isn't part of it and to have people go away with that impression is a shame.
The Aartanian 7th needs activity, obviously, and one thing that works really nicely for my EVE corp (and most other guilds I've seen) is to have a fixed event night; even when not everyone can make it, we all know that something is likely to happen.
Here's an example event:
Everyone jumps in their tier 2 ship (you did keep the tier 2 ship, right? Never mind, you can rebuy it for about 20k), or tier 1 if they're still Lt. No systems above Mk IV, please; your high-rank personal abilities will be edge enough.
Depending on how many people we get, we either do deep space encounters or a fleet action. We should be able to pick one fit for the level (high end of LtCdr, probably).
That way everyone gets to fly in their respective styles, but we're as accessible as possible to people of lower levels. Later on we'll fix it at tier 3, then maybe 4.
So, is there a day that suits for a number of fleet members to get together once a week or once a fortnight?
I'm happy to organise it if it's a time I can make (and if it's a time I can't, I'm happy to organise something else when I can). I'm busy Wednesdays and alternate Tuesdays, but other than that I'm mostly fine whenever.
As a side point, I recommend that everyone keeps as wide a range of ships as possible and leave each one outfitted appropriate for the level at which you grew out of it. I've no idea how many we may be allowed to store, but even once you start having to decommission some I suggest getting rid of tiers 1 and 3 first.
