Sony to shutdown 12 SWG server

I definitelty wasn't there for the spaceship crash, I would have remembered that bit, really cool though. I have some pictures of another event when there was the stranded spacer and the scavenger hunt for his ship parts.
The pics of the group on the skiff I might well have been part of, I definitely recognize Orix's big lizard form on the middle passenger .

This is one of my favourites. Might even have been beta. Tusken King we peeped over a sand ridge in case they would see us...lol
2 full groups armed in bone armour running from Mos Eisley to Wayfar.
I remember someone asked, 'Would we not be better going from Bestine?'
If I could have worked out my map I probably could have agreed. ^^

Happy days.

You guys are all looking forward to ToR. I just dont think it will ever match early AR.

To be fair, the pictures weren't chronological. I went back once a couple of years ago shortly after they released the storytelling tools and found out I could buy loads of things. So I did.

The skiff pictures were taken about two days before the NGE hit.

I remember being part of the Tuskan King, afaik I think it was on Lowca, because I never participated in beta.

I remember getting knocked down many a time, I think I might have tried to run in there blazing ala Leeroy Jenkins.

Good times. I agree that TOR won't be the same as our experiences with early days SWG, but it could potentially be as much fun.

Looking at the photograph, I can see the camp is a little while away from Wayfar, so it is on Lowca. Early versions had it right outside the town.

Hey guys, yes good old times...

I've canceled my accounts around a year ago, leaving the remains of Aartanridge to imperial destruction. It seems they've come do their job. that's sad.

Those pictures and story reminds me lots of things!
it's good to see your names again, and yes Aartanridge was a wonderfull adventure I will probably remember for a long time...

It was too my greatest MMO experience.

BIG THANKS TO YOU ALL!

I agree. And I am immensly looking forward to ToR. The Tuskan King was our most fun and best raid because we made it up (and made it more than it was) as we went along. We had fun. It wasn't a closely choreographed modern raid with folk barking orders over mics and there wasn't a pre-ordained 'ho-to-do-it' that everyone was supposed to read before playing. We just went out, stumbled around, and had fun. That was AR. We made it up as we went along. And SWG gave you the tools to help with that far more than ToR will.

I loved the Tusken night. And many many others in AR. ToR won't be the same - but it will still be a great ride.

So, overcome with nostalgia, I dusted off the old disks and joined one of the private PreCU SWG servers.
The hairs go up the back of my neck as I hear the theme tune play....
Image

SWG, for me, still has one of the most customisable character creators. Soon Carlito will be reborn again....
Well he would have been if his name had not been taken.

Image

Fiddled about a bit with the controls and soon enough I am running around Mos Eisley.....

Image

Head on over to the cantina.... its quite busy.. the nostalgic tunes playing again..

Image

Lets see if my novice scout can get me as far as Aartan Ridge site..... doubt it very much.....
Jimhada... tatooine scout.... reporting in...
